Late penalty from Leeds full-back Tommy Bell earns them dramatic Championship win over London Scottish

Bell, who also converted his own try, scored all the points for Leeds who gave a debut to England Under-20 fly-half George Ford. He appeared following his loan signing from Leicester alongside his brother Joe.

They will also lose Chris Stirling, their high performance manager, at the end of the season following his decision to return to New Zealand and a take a 12 months sabbatical after almost three years in charge of the Pirates.

Esher completed a successful festive period with a 24-12 win over Rotherham, their first of the season, at Molesey Road.

The Surrey club ended a run of 14 straight defeats with a draw at London Welsh on Boxing Day and this win was sealed by tries from lock Ian Kench and Canada international centre Phil McKenzie.

Despite the victory Esher are still 14 points adrift of Plymouth Albion at the foot of the table.

Moseley bounced back from their Boxing Day defeat by London Scottish with a 10-7 win over London Welsh at Old Deer Park.

A late penalty try, awarded the Exiles were deemed to have taken down a scrum, gave Moseley their fifth win of the season and kept alive their hopes of escaping the relegation play-offs for a third consecutive season.
