Saturday marked the sixth annual ride against breast cancer at Sanford Health.
?
Around 50 cyclists biked the either 15 or 50-mile routes in the rain to support those they know for have lost to breast cancer.
?
The routes are both on the trails around Sioux Falls and on the road.
?
The ride raises money that will help people pay for mammograms and other prevention techniques. It also is to bring awareness to this type of cancer.
?
Renee Langin, who works for Sanford Breast Health Institute said this ride always has been special to her, but this year?s ride means more than ever. Her younger sister was recently diagnosed with stage two-breast cancer.
?
Renee Langin said, ?My youngest sister was just diagnosed with breast cancer. Just finished her last of four chemotherapies treatments. So I am thinking of her today."
?
Langin said they are hoping to have around 200 people cycle on Saturday, but the rain resulted in fewer coming out.
?
She also stressed the importance of women getting mammograms yearly and doing self-checks as well.
